No Turning Back

I mailed my acceptance letter and fee to Ivy1! I have yet to mail my "thanks, but no thanks" letters out...

A friend of mine got into several MA/PhD programs in organizational psychology - including the top three in the country and I am so excited for her, but her financial aid packages are PHENOMENAL. I mean OUTRAGEOUS. I mean FREE + yearly salary. How does this happen. At what point did America decide that they would pay people to be in Humanities, Social Science, and Biological (or otherwise "HARD" science) programs leading to a graduate degree, but not other majors? I don't get this at all. I know there is a "professional students will be able to pay back their loans" general argument, but, technically, so will a Phd in Biology, right? Maybe they think that with all the loan repayment programs, they don't need to offer us the same deal? It's frustrating.
